One legged man, butt kicking contest

that describes my summer from the way it looks.

Sister wants me to build a 12x34 deck and 12x10 shed

Bench rest league

Paint my house inside and out.

Replace carpet in my house.

Get 68 GMC running and replace brake lines

Stay ahead of the game on lawn care for me and neighbor widow

Neighbor widow needs her deck stained. I built it 4 years ago

Entertain family and Canadian friends in July

At 8:00 I'm going to Menards to get materials for deck and shed. I'm thinking a 24' U-haul truck may get rented. My Accord and Escape are not going to cut it here

Sister said her 2 sons can help build them. It'd be faster and better quality if I do it alone. I'm not a teacher or babysitter. I'm not a complete novice and I have enough redneck skills to figure a way to do things alone. Plus this way I'm not waiting on someone to get out of bed or show up when I expect them.

But if any of you guys want to come and laugh at/with me I'd enjoy the company. Bring pizza and beer.

Whoa son! That's quite a plate full. I'm tired just reading through it all.
You may have to hire some temp help before the summer is over ha.

i hate house repair/work. everything is always a royal pain in the butt as its never just a simple swap or replace of something. i told the wife to quit messing with stuff the house is fine, its taking away from the garage time

I know the feeling too. My wife leaves me a "Honey do' list everyday. And just seems to get longer

I used to feel the same way, but I've realized everyone batches about Millenials being lazy, but I've realized more and more the older generation (including myself) assumes the worst and pushes them off to the side. It sounds like no dad in the picture? Now could be a great time to teach them some skills they could use to be better young men. Just thinking out loud...

I built this giant by myself in about 7 weekends. 16'x24'. That included ripping out the old one and doing some serious repair work to the sill plate. I had to pull it out, install a new one, and properly flash it this time, as there was nothing there previously. Rained slowed me up a bit and this deck is WAY overbuilt.

Re: One legged man, butt kicking contest

Spent the majority of the day getting stuff from Menards. 4 pickup loads and 2 in my Escape. Only 2 more trucks worth to get tomorrow

Sister was complaining about why we were taking so long, until I brought her with for one load.

One nephew was great help. The other bailed after one load and was more interested in his phone. That's fine, I won't forget it when he needs help.

Oh well, it's time for me to get some more sleep. I gotta do the AC compresssor kit on a Blazer this morning then get carpet for my house

Just remember, the carpet goes fuzzy side up...you're just going to have to trust me on this one.

Sounds about like my summer plans.

If I was close to you I'd help you. Good luck.

I used Google Maps to see if I was close, could't find "Reloading Bench" anywhere!

I'd drive out there to help but I've got four flat tires and no spare. I guess I'm like the I no show nephew.

You can give your Nephew my Brother's Nickname! We called him Blister, he asked Dad why- Dad said you always show up after the work was DONE.

Re: One legged man, butt kicking contest

I pray you're retired and if you're not, consider it seriously. One day at a time and if it doesn't get done, remember the famous words of Andy Taylor on Andy of Mayberry, if it doesn't get done today, that's why they made tomorrows. Happy Memorial Day.

I gave that nephew the Indian name of "teats on boar". That about his value, worthless as .....

We got the rest of the stuff yesterday. Good nephew showed up 1/2 hour late but was a good worker. His friend showed up to help finish loading, ok fine. Then as we were leaving menards (friend behind me and nephew ahead) I heard a crash sound. It was friend, his Mustang broke a ball joint. That took over 2 hours of my time getting his car fixed.

This morning sister asked what time tomorrow I want people to come help. I said I'd just as soon do it all myself. I can't waste any more time dealing with helpers. If I know I'm doing it alone I can plan accordingly. If I'm expecting help then my plans get thrown out the window and progress takes a big hit. I'm already short on time

I suppose I could throw up something for the picture whores to enjoy. Here is all the lumber for deck and shed
