Saginaw 3 speed

So I found a used 3 speed saginaw locally for $40. I couldn't pass that up. I decided it would be fun to try and rebuild it. Worst case is I have spare parts for the one currently in my 68 c10. I have been reading instructions and it sounds doable. My question is what type of snap ring pliers do I need. External, internal or both? What size range? I am all about adding some tools to my collection, but I don't want to buy a bunch of sizes I don't need. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!
