Hello everyone. I recently posted under another thread, but wanted to get some pics of my truck posted. 1970 lwb GMC with 307 and 4 speed with granny low. Recently started making some changes as shown. Changed out radiator. (went with Champion brand), heater core, and master cylinder (have not connected due to being 95 degrees down here. Powder coated the original steel rims and put on some new tires. I have also removed the bed and pressure washed the frame of 20 years of Mississippi red dirt, primed and painted. After installing master cylinder over weekend, I am not getting any fluid to the rear axle. Got tired of troubleshooting and will start on it again this week. Plan is to get it running and safe. After the brakes are fixed I plan on enjoying a little while before tackling any other big projects. NEEDS -rockers, 1 cab corner, which hopefully will be tackled within the year. Just wanted to say this is a great site and helped tremendously when doing these projects.

Your no fluid to rears is caused by the brake fail switch being tripped in the proportioning valve. This is the valve block under the master cylinder...remove the small electrical screw in switch and you will hear the valve click back to center...leave the valve out while you bleed the system, then put is back in when you are done.

Bleed passenger side rear, drivers side rear, passenger side front, then drivers side front...a pressure bleeder makes is much easier...

If you haven't replaced the rear rubber brake line you might want to consider that too. They can deteriorate inside and pieces of the lining will flake off plugging the line.

Man I'm glad I click on this post. I had a rear rubber brake line fail on my '68 Friday evening and of course my brake light comes on when I depress the pedal. I'll have to remember to do what AussieinNC said to do about the brake fail switch being tripped. I'll E replacing all of my runner lines this week. Thanks!

Well I never was able to get my brakes to work right. I finally broke down and took the old girl to a local mechanic. I now have brakes. I knew I had to put shoes on the rear, but per them the new master cylinder that I had installed was not working properly, 2 wheel cylinders were bad, and one rubber line. I am officially out of any play money i had, so hopefully I can just drive it and enjoy it for a while without stressing over what I can do to it next.

My guess is when you threw the MC on the truck you had not bench bled it first?
