Re: 67-72 Utility Bed
I might have some in Photobucket. Kind of a pain to use anymore, but I'll take a look. I lost a lot of pictures when my last computer died.
One thing to keep in mind, these side bins narrow the body down. I mean on a 3/4t with stock wheels they barely cover the tires. The bins sit narrower than the cab by a couple inches. I've considered extending them but it would have to be strong. They rely on a piece of plate on the inside of the bed to be strong enough to hang off the bedside.

Re: 67-72 Utility Bed
Ya, Trailer and money but the title was filled out and signed that someone else bought it but they did not change the title so I could not get it in my name until they get it in theirs. Always an adventure. LOL It is all original with a 402 bbc, TH400, P/S, P/B, A/C, Tach and locking rear end

Re: 67-72 Utility Bed
I'm sure you know the drill but all they need to do is get you an affidavit stating the buyers name was filled out in error at the BMV and you'll be on your way home with it.......and legal

Re: 67-72 Utility Bed
These aren't utility beds. Those are complete bodies (bed) that replace a pickup bed. These are side bins, or tool boxes, that bolt to Stepside beds after the fenders and running boards are removed.

Re: 67-72 Utility Bed
Someone was telling me that the fender boxes were a factory option and I read somewhere it was a dealer option. Anyone know which one or if both are true?

Re: 67-72 Utility Bed
They are aftermarket. They could have been installed through the dealer, a truck equipment upfitter, or by owners. These are factory Stepsides that had the brand new fenders removed.

Re: 67-72 Utility Bed
Cool thread. I'm glad to see interest in this topic. Just bought this '67 GMC 3500
9' stepside with tool boxes. The factory steps - very long for 9' beds, have been cut to fit the boxes. Last edited by grumptruck; 01-02-2017 at 07:04 PM. Reason: more info |

Re: 67-72 Utility Bed
I have never seen these before. They are pretty cool. Would make a great handyman(such as myself) truck.

Re: 67-72 Utility Bed
Here is a pic of my 70' short utility bed. I've lowered the front 3 inches and the back 2 inches since these pictures were taken. I have purchased 17 inch torque thrust rims that I plan to put on in the next month or so.

Re: 67-72 Utility Bed
The original owners daughter found some pictures of our truck when it was new. He bought it from Ocean Lea GMC on Long Island and had the boxes installed prior to delivery. He (original owner) never had the original fenders. Those were probably kept by the dealership and re-sold.

Re: 67-72 Utility Bed
I wish I had one. I would gladly pull my Longhorn Box off for that. I would get them all cleaned and spiffed up, slide in my 1958 Alaskan Camper and be set!

I love these things! If your truck is for hauling, they look like "just the thing."
