A big hello, and video updates!
Its been many months since I've been to the board. Seems sometimes you have to give up an addiction to make some progress...LOL
First, my apologies to anyone who had to wait on filler patches. I will refund the cost to anyone who was inconvenienced by a wait. Also I can not supply anymore filler patches at this time. At the time I decided to do the videos I was going to use my own cab (had a few rusty ones to choose from) so I could work at my own pace and not be bothered my someone who needed their cab done at any certain time. I was contacted by several people to use thier cabs for the project but gracefully turned down the offers. Then I was contacted by a fellow board member who told me of his cab. It seems it was rather rusted throughout. He stated because his father had bought the truck new, he wanted to preserve the originality of the truck where possible, after all the essence of the truck is the cab and frame (matching #'s) so he didn't want to change cabs. He also insured me he was in no hurry and I could take my time (I thought , sure, I've heard that before) and he has been true to his word. Now comes the part where it has taken quite a bit of time. When he brought it to me, he was right , it was real rusty. When he opened the right door it nearly fell off. the "A" pillar had rusted away at the kick panel and front cab support. The cowl area under the A/C box area, behind the glove box was rusted through. Actually ther was a lot of metal gone around the cowl area and many of these pieces had to be hand made. He also came up with a very rare find - a set, right and left, complete roof to rocker "A" pillar assemblies. They looked brand new except for 30 years of dust on them. If ever there was a truck that warranted the replacement of these beauties, it was this truck. So rather than just film the areas where most of our cabs need repairs, I have taken this unique opportunity to show these and other areas such as using some parts from "donar" cabs. This project is nearing completion. I have many, many hours of footage of the rust repairs on this truck and am beginning editing. I must say I feel there has been a spiritual presence with me as I've worked on this truck. I found several coins hidden in the bottom of this cab. I imagined them falling from the pockets of the board member's father while they were riding together. I collected them up and put them in a little bag and gave them to the owner/board member. I feel it is not my place to reveal the boardmember's name or the details of our business( he may come forward if he wants to )but I will take the opportunity to share with the board many of the still shots of the project. I'll be updating the website with these pics but wanted to share them with the board first Let me do some resizing and I'll start posting pics tonite. Any in particular you want to see first? Good to be back after a long break ![]() ![]() |
