OK guys, here's one for ya,
just picked up a 327 long-block for $100 and was wondering if the heads will fit either the 307 or the 350... also, the engine was running, but there is an "oil pressure" problem. the oil pressure is fine supposedly until the engine heats up... then drops drastically. any ideas? thanks ahead of time for your help ------------------ '70 C-10 Short/Fleet 350 (in the family since new) '70 C-10 Long/Fleet 307 (the Death Machine because it seems like it'll kill you to drive in it)

they will fit a 350 307 327 400
283 262 267 305 chevy engines may not run good on smaller cube engines but will bolt on. If they are double humps they will be perfect for a flat top pistoned 350

I just might longhorn, but I need to get my short-bed running first, or get decent power to the death machine... whichever...

I built 1 a few years back,in a 4 bolt block+ 040. Flattop pistons,mild cam,& a set of LT1 staight plug castings. Dropped in a 72 long step,with a 4 spd saginaw(monza,3.50 first),& 3.73 gears).....one runnin SOB,she would pull a load like nobodys bizz,& runnin empty was fun to play with......69 longhorn.

Your oil pressure problem is likely a main bearing wear problem. The oil has more viscosity while it's cold, so the excessive space between the bearing surface & the crank will hold pressure with the higher vis. When the oil warms it thins out & you lose pressure. Stopgap measures include running a high viscosity oil (20/50 etc.) But you still have a problem that won't go away. Rebuild the 327 and you'll have a nice set-up

Worn cam bearings will also cause oil pressure loss after warm-up.

If the heads have 2.02/1.6 valves they will NOT work on the 265,267,283 or 307. You will need a motor with the 4" bore. With that said, most likely they are 1.94/1.5 and will work fine ond any of the motors.
