You're right. Glitter is too kind. Well, unless it's a guy going home to his wife and she figures he came from a strip bar.

Re: Merry Christmas ya no good...

The front porch thefts are ridiculous. Brazen thieves walk right up in broad daylight with no attempt to hide their faces. It's happening all across the country. Consumers take a chance every time they have purchases shipped to their homes. I stopped doing that years ago. I have anything shipped to my work address to prevent thefts.
They even have a name for them now. Someone coined "porch pirates". Some might actually find that term fun. It's STEALING, people! Theft. It's wrong, period!
And I just noticed someone stole the garden hose from behind the office. Who steals garden hoses? Really? Ain't nothing safe..

Re: Merry Christmas ya no good...

Its such a weird thing the police don't really follow up on these things. The days of grainy security pictures are gone. You can see plain as day who these scumbags are. I think if you actually tossed a few of these people in jail for a minimum of 90 days, no plea bargains, and made sure the public was aware of it, these thefts would come to a grinding halt (or at least a trickle).

Sad part is in todays world if you used the dye, the criminal would probably have grounds to sue you and win.

Re: Merry Christmas ya no good...

You’re right. They ought to put some sleazy lawyers in jail with them too. I know ‘tis the season and all and I should have kindness and hope for all but those scumbums are taking things away from good people. It looks too easy on tv. Some police across the country are setting up survielance and dummy packages to catch some of them. Problem is there usually isn’t enough dollar value to be considered a major crime so we are on our own, for the most part. Just the other day there was a child porch pirate caught who had been directed to do so by an adult.

I saw this the other day at another site. Hilarious! I also think that a box of poop that couldn't be closed easily after opening would be appropriate. My idea is to (carefully) wrap a box with fly paper. That stuff is really hard to get off, and the result would be immediate.

Re: Merry Christmas ya no good...

How about spring loaded poop in a box. Think projectile. How could they sue? All you'd have to say is you don't like the person at that address and the poop was intended for them... never figured someone would just come up and take what's not theirs.

The great thing about this contraption is it is designed to be totally reusable, even with four cell phones that thieves would be quite happy to keep. "Oh hail naw. I ain't keepin' dem smailly thangs."

Re: Merry Christmas ya no good...

I read later that video was a hoax and the bomb maker is the one that said so.

I'd fear the glitter getting into the eyes or lungs of the thief and a scum bag lawyer suing the victim for a few million.

I stopped getting mail or packages delivered to my house unless I could be there when those came. This was due to my mail getting stolen and later, a burglary attempt on my home.

The guy on my street that shot the one teenaged burglar in the back with a 12 gauge bean bag round told me also how he once saw a guy "messing around in his boat." He gave chase and tackled the guy right on the border of his property, apparently beating the mortal crap out of the guy. Police showed up. Turned out the "thief" was a neighbor's son trying to hide beer under the boat tarp!

These stories seemed rather incredible until I asked the man's employees....two of them said "we don't doubt it at all. He's a great guy but he's very old school."
