No but I’m in the middle of doing it from a 2005 GM AAM 14 bolt to an 89 14 bolt right now. It’s not exactly the same swap but I’m sure it’s similar. For me it all comes down to getting the caliper/ backing plate mounting bracket built and then welded to the axle tube.

Based on the semi float axle, and my experience with the 14 bolt, You’ll need to get the disk mounted up to the axle and then mock up the backing plate/caliper and mounting bracket/e brake parts to get the final position of the caliper/ backing plate mounting bracket for final welding. This bracket may end of being a custom replica of the Oe bracket and not an exact copy. The reason I say this is because the axle tubes may be different diameters. That was the case for me. Save the two diameters the new brackets will be exact copies of the originals.

I’m having the backing plate/caliper mount bracket cut on a cnc mill so right now I’m at the mercy of my machinist. I’m going to do an in depth write up on the 14 bolt soon.

Yep I hear you. Front 60’s are getting harder and harder to find. I’ve got the 89 soon to be factory rear disk full floater 14 bolt and front 60 to go into my K20.

The nice thing about the factory disk setup is you get a reliable parking brake setup and over the counter replacement parts.

Re: Rear disc brakes

The rear brakes provide 25% at best so what's the point of the conversion? Unless you're autocrossing or need to reduce fade, what's the point other than cosmetics?

Re: Rear disc brakes

The point is i have 2 sets one 1/2 ton one 1 ton sitting in the yard free with good rotors and caliphers why buy new drums if they fit and the full float diff that is a hell off a lot of weight reduction on rear wheels

And with my low rider project it will start out low budget ls swap then get built into a much higher hp truck over time looking for now its getting a hydroboost with 72 disk drum setup

Re: Rear disc brakes

The pilot hole on a 4x4 12 bolt axle is the same as the front diameter hub. The 10 bolt rotor has the small hole like a 2x4. The bolt pattern on housing is different. It can be done, but not cheap and easy which is why you don't see it.

You’ll like the hydroboost, that’s the best thing I’ve done to my K20 to date.

As for the disk swap, I’ll also add there’s not much info on the internet, I had to just get each axle on jack stands next to each other and start swapping parts around to see what needed to be done. Mike is probably on to something with the 12vs10 bolt. I really don’t play with anything but full floating 14 bolts.
