Argument?
Did GM ever stamp vin information onto SBC engines like passenger cars ? I have only ever seen plant and date stamp.

I guy just sold a C10 on BAT for $35K. Is insisting the engines where stamped with vin #.

One could retroactively stamp a VIN. I'd think that it would be pretty obvious, though. It's not easy duplicating the factory stamp.

The intake is stamped and dated too, heads are stamped under the valve covers. With some rational and a little search it gives a guy a solid idea whether or not the block is original, though you need to know the build date as Customcamper said to know for 99%ish sure. In other terms.........the blocks in our old trucks are "numbers matching", it just doesn't include a VIN.
