Anyone recognize this gasket?

I'm installing the original A/C/Heat system in my 71. This gasket came with the kit though I don't recognize it. It's about the same size as the heater core, but I don't believe they take a gasket, the heater box does however.

It's not for the evaporator core, that takes a larger rectangular gasket. Doesn't fit on the heater box, A/C diverter or floor duct. Hmmm!

Thank you

Re: Anyone recognize this gasket?

For what worth this first illustration doesn't show it. The second one might.

What's not shown so much is the rope gasket that runs along the perimeter for the joint between both sides of the evap. case.

Re: Anyone recognize this gasket?

I believe that is the core to box gasket. And that's where one just went on my one ton.

Which core? If you mean evaporator core, such as shown in the first illustration above, that takes a larger rectangular gasket.

Re: Anyone recognize this gasket?

Before you install the heater core, you glue this gasket in the opening before you tighten the heater core to the box.

What I think you said is, I need to remove the heater box and do it right..........Ahhhhhhhhhhh!. I didn't know I had the gasket, bought these five years ago, just happened to come across this one, and the heater core didn't have one when I found it.

I like to do things twice.

Speak of heater boxes, I discovered the first time that "The Fonze" has its place here.

Re: Anyone recognize this gasket?

Neat how the gasket is maybe 3/8" too narrow for the passage. I have some extra rope gasket I can make work. Thank you.

Scratch that, I'm using tape of sorts instead, this gasket doesn't come close to fitting. All the other gaskets are great, might be a case so few install them for a heater core the vendors don't know they're worthless.
