My rear slider had chrome trim around it - installation?
I have a rear sliding window and I guess it had chrome trim around it as part of the deluxe package. How does this chrome trim install, is it after putting in the window and does it wedge between the rubber and glass?

Gasket goes on window first, then trim on the gaskt, then assembly roped into the opening. Use lots of lube.
Edited order. Need to wake up |

Re: My rear slider had chrome trim around it - installation?
Actually, what I have experienced is the the rear stainless trim was deleted when a slider was ordered and installed. My truck is a Custom Deluxe has a factory slider but no rear trim. I am going to add it back. Reason it is deleted I do not know. Pretty sure others will confirm what I have found.

Edit: in doing a little research, I think you are right here is what I found Yes, when a sliding rear window was ordered on a 1972 Chevy C10, the factory-installed chrome trim (Deluxe Trim) around the rear window was deleted. The sliding rear window came with its own black rubber gasket that did not accommodate the stainless trim used on the fixed rear window. If your truck originally had a Deluxe Trim Package, ordering the sliding rear window would mean the rear window trim was omitted, but the rest of the exterior trim (such as the windshield trim, side moldings, and drip rail moldings) remained. This is like being a detective, I wish I could go back in time and see exactly how my truck came off the assembly line. I was prepared for the PITA job of removing the rear window and trying to add the chrome trim.

Did your research say only the 72 was like this? My 70 had a rear slider with SS trim. I'm not sure if it was factory as the SPID sticker was completely faded on the glove box door. My old front windshield also had the trim so I assumed the truck had the option. I opted to go with just a single piece of glass and a standard gasket for my build. They seem like they would be a pain in the butt to install. I still have the trim in the shed. Pretty sure the leaky slider was the cause of the rust I had to repair on the bottom of the window opening.
