help date of manufacture on tranny?
Well I was at the yard today and a new 85 k5 came in. I looked in the back of it and I found that the transmission (700r4) was laying on the floor. Upon further inspection, I found out that it still had the GM Goodwrench tags on it as a remanufactured one. Now I'm thinking wow, this could be a great tranny or a piece of crap depending on why it is out the truck. I went and asked the guys at the counter and they said that the owner claimed it had worked. The truck looked bad, like completely rusted out. So I am wondering if someone junked it for that reason. Still not sure why the tranny was out of it, but it was still bolted to the transfer case. So maybe it was something someone was going to put in another truck. Anyways I took a gamble and bought the tranny -80 bucks is all this yard gets. I'm wondering if there is a way to tell how old the remanufacture is. Did GM goodwrench put some code on them so you could tell approximately when it went in the truck?
Mike

Only thing I know of to look here. http://www.highperformancecars.com/crosley/700id.htm This might help you in identifying the year it was made but no idea on the rebuild.
