I should have a working tranny in about a week or so. Then I just need to pay for it
![]() After talking to a couple tranny guys they said the metal in my pan was most likely parts of my planetary gears. I decided to have my other 700R4 that's been sitting on a crate for the last 2 years checked out for rebuild since it's only missing 3rd gear. They came by and got it Thursday morning and called me Friday afternoon with the diagnosis. Turns out the clutch is burnt out but all the hard parts are perfect. The shop is going to rebuild it and replace everything with the best quality parts available. It's getting a hardened input shaft and drum, new high quality servo, heavy duty converter, etc. The labor is free to me cuz my dad made a call to the shop and worked some things out since his shop and the tranny shop are on some sort of trade program. I just pay for parts. The total to me will be $515 When the tranny is done, they'll send out a tow truck to get my truck to the shop. Then they'll drop the old tranny and put the new one in. They specialize in 700R4s and stock all the parts so they're just going to build it now and let me come by and make payments or pick it up and pay for it anytime I want whether it's next week or next month. Since it's IRS season and I'm just starting to get some real checks from my new job, it's probably going to be more like next month. But having a driveable truck is definitely in the near future. Let's just hope this tranny lasts longer. ![]() Now I just have to find a good body man ![]()
