need help with paper, need facts!

Hello all, well for my brake system class we have to write a paper on a car or truck we pick and give the history behind it and what type of system it has. i know that my 71 long bed is disk/drum and has a front rear split but i am in need of history and web sites that back up what i am saying is true. is it true that 71 was the first year for disk brakes on 1/2 ton chevy trucks? was it an option before 71? ANY INFO YOU GUYS HAVE OR CAN GIVE ME WOULD BE GREAT!!!! IF YOU KNOW OF ANY WEB SITES THAT BACK UP WHAT IS SAID THOSE WOULD BE GREAT ALSO!!!!

Thank You All Sooooooo Much

'71 was the first year for disc up front. Prior to that, it was drums all around. If this helps any; '71 was also the first year for standard vacuum power assist, and '70 and earlier, power brakes were an option.
As for the website to back you up.... WE ARE THE WEBSITE TO BACK THIS INFORMATION UP!

well here is an idea. check out ece. you can give the desciption of the products to switch over to disc on the 67-72 chevy trucks. from 67-70 it was all drum, 71 was the first year for disc in the front. the lug spacing for 67-70 was a 6x5.5, the hub size was a...just give me a minute I will go measure the ones in my front room. the rotor size for the 71 I think was an 11", not to sure, but you can always bull through a paper easy. we all love our trucks you came to the right place. also there is the company called master power brakes I think that also sells the kits to switch over to disc. the size of the rear is a 62" from hub to hub. there is a guy on the boards, dont remember who, but he switched to a mid 90's impala ss rear end. it has the disc brakes. The rear end hub on my 71 is a 11 3/4 I think. there is also a 12" nova's came with the same size hub.
you can also go into detail on how that sometimes the brake hubs came on trucks out of round, mine is out of round by a lot, like 1/2 inch, there is alot that you can say about brakes. what is it specifically your looking for?
if this has just confused you more, I am sorry I know how it is for a paper. was typing as fast as my brain was thinking.

o.k. just measured the inside of the hub that randy gave me. it is 11 1/4 from the inside to inside. it is from a 69 or so 1/2. so it has the 6x5.5 lug spacing. also the new trucks have the 6x5.5 lug spacing. might want to find out by looking through ebay when they started back on 6x5.5

Oops. Sorry for the wrong info. I had always thought that power was standard in '71. Learn something new everyday

SWEET7T: thats fine.... i dont think my teacher is going to really check out my biography.... he HATES CHEVY"S so him and i dont get along and i think it might kill him to go to a chevy site. i rip on ford every day in class...... he always trys to prove to me that ford is better but when he pulls one fact out i pulll out many more for chevy;s favor. plus untill 1972 chevy sold more trucks then ford. it was only in 73 that ford pulled ahead of chevy... what a shame!

thanks everyone

Just show him a picture of a 67-72 F#$D pickup and then show him a 67-72 Chevy or GMC, that should shut him up right there. Do sales figures in which ford was ahead in sales take into calculation the sales of chevs + GMCs over ford?
