ashtray difference???

I picked up an ashtray at a local junkyard. clean it up real nice, and it doesn't fit where it supposed to. Is there a difference from 67-72. was my 72 GMC special or something. Ive owned two other trucks, a 68 and another 72 and the ashtray would have worked in them.. thanks

Some of them have ball bearing slides and some of them have nylon runners.
I am unsure of which models have what kind though.
I like the ball bearing ones over the others myself.
I could be wrong in this line of thought but:
I think they should both interchange but you would have to change out the tray and the carrier with it.
The only other difference that I can think of is the 67 had a different faceplate, which was a smoother finish

71-72 have the slides, you can take off the assembly that the ashtray slides on, not sure if they interchange though.

There are I think 4 screws holding the guide in place, the heads are facing down, they might be hard to get at if the heater controls are in.
