Arrow Updated pictures!

I had my truck re-bagged 6-months ago and I've only driven it ONCE since the vehicle was purchased roughly 9-months ago. Walking by the truck parked in the garage, I started to dislike the stock frame more and more. So, I had it backhalfed!













The transmission crossmember lays on the ground and the fuel tanks are roughly 1" from hitting. The suspension is setup to layout on 22's (Hint-hint). I still have to "clean up" and detail the chassis.

Killer set up buddy. Everything looks awesome. I'm curious about theangle of the shocks though. I assume the angle decreases quit a bit at ride height.

BTW- Are those HAL shocks?

It's aired up a good amount in the pictures. The angle of the shock absorbers stays the same. The fabricator has done a similar setup and says it works great.

Yep, they are HAL's.....

Izzy---Yep, same frame rails that Road Surfer used. They're not mandrel bent though. 4-pieces assembled in a jig.

N2TRUX---Not anytime soon. Next project is to rewire the new cab and install a GM crate motor.

Thanks, everyone. The chassis will look much better once I re-route and connect the air line to the valves. I'm also going to clean-up the wiring among many other things.

Not to be a dick, great looking work. But with the notchback just welded to the top of the frame. Whenever you air up and down, that is stress pusing up and pulling down. It doesnt appear to have any side braces on where the 2 connect, etc. I wouldnt abuse that too much or you might have problems with that little piece in that spot, holding all of that weight and stress.

Like I said, good work none the less.

It's not welded to the top of the frame only. The stock frame rails are boxed for 12" and the backhalf is attatched to the inside of the stock frame. It's plenty strong. Aftermarket uses these frame rails on every truck they backhalf (They've done 4 in the last few months). I've seen a few of those trucks take abuse first hand.

If I sound defensive, I'm not trying to be.....

Not at all. I see where its all connect. It just something I wouldnt personally put a lot of stress or abuse to. B/c that is a lot of weight for just those areas. Now its just like say... you build new body mounts and have the top piece and 2 sides.. if the sides are flush with the top piece, weld it.. it has an ability to break there b/c of pushing down force, not saying it will, just saying it COULD. (the right way is to gusset under it, so it counter acts the force on the top plate, is held "extra" but sitting on the sides/gussets.

As for your rear clip saying AFtermarket uses it all the time. Well, Ekstensive puts 2 links in all the time, SSC does reverse 4 links. Doesnt make it right.

Sorry I seem defensive/or a dick. I'm not trying to be. Just trying to see how something that isnt braced to counter act the force, is going to hold, but hey, if it does, then congrats!!

No problem, I understand your point. Aftermarket is not the first to use these frame rails either. Bill Dermond @ Road Surfer designed/used these until he opened another shop. I'm not worried about anything breaking though. This truck will never be abused.
