driveline slack

when ever i accelerate or let of the gas or drive slow through a bumpy parking lot there is a clunk in the drive line. is this caused by worn out u-joints?

Easy to figure out. Block the weels and put it in neutral. Climb underneath and wiggle stuff. Twist the shaft, move it up and down, side to side. You will be able to see and hear what is worn out.

Well there is no how much Some you can turn a good ways some are very tight all due to wear i would say if it moves more than just a tad its loose or worn try turning the yoke on the rearend to see if its the ring and pinion If its just a worn ring and pinion it will last for no telling how long I have seen them with alot of slack or howling forever and not go out.

The thing to look for is movement in your U-joints where the little rubber seals are. None is acceptable. Some rotation of the pinion, or tailshaft yokes is normal.
