Some flatbed progress pics
Well I was at the shop till late last night trying to get some welding done on the flatbed last night. I ended up getting the stake pockets welded on , made up some side gussets for the bumper, welded them to the bumper and then got the bumper tacked on. I ran out of wire around 11pm so it was time to shut her down. All the steel on this flatbed was fabricated by Shawnas dad and he did an amazing job!! Here are some pics

So far the flatbed weighs about 200-220 lbs I would have to guess. Still needs to be planked tho, so it will be just over 300 lbs when done

Tim, How's it mounted to the frame? Looks good. The flat bed I took off of the 71 weighted about 1000lbs, but it had a steel deck.

Looking real strong. Are you going to incorporate a trailer hitch?

I am going to install a hidden hitch into it next year so it will have a flip up door to hide the end. I will also install a drop spare tire mount under the bed so it can be tucked up under neath so nobody can see it either. I have a 4' x 4" piece of square steel mounted to the box mount that is second from the front one. Then I have a 3" x 3" piece of square steel with a piece of 1/2" plate welded to it , mounted at the rear of the frame, and a piece of 2" x 2" square, mounted halfway between the 2 for some middle support. It gave the flatbed the right amount of rake to fit in with the lower body line of the truck.

Well done Tim, are you going to weld something across the front to protect the cab? If you can find a 1/4 thick sheet of diamond plate aluminum, you'll save alot of weight.

I am gonna make a rack that is the height of the bottom of the rear window out of 4" C channel that is 1/8" in thickness. That way, I can run my 3" stacks through them I'm not to worried about weight, this ain't no racing truck
