A/C flapper in cowl????
I finally got all my ac parts installed and working, and put in the cowl flapper tonight. The vac can is pulling real good, but it doesn't want to rotate the flapper door that well. It just wants to pull the lever straight down, not turn it. It seems like it needs one more pivot point on the lever and a longer lever arm. Has anyone gotten this thing to work better?

Try loosing everything up and see if it will turn-may just need adjusting more. Will take a photo of mine and post it for you tomorrow.

I turns Ok, but the vac can doesn't want to turn it, it wants to bend the bracket and the lever. I can see why too, it is a poor design with the supports too far away from the lever arm, and thin sheet metal brackets to hold it all in place. Also, the return spring doesn't help matters, as it makes it even harder to turn. I would appreciate the PIC though, thanks.

Sorry Walker but I forgot all about your photo. Will try again tomorrow. Where is the return spring? I do not remember having one on mine.

The return spring goes from the middle, on a triangular cast in boss, of the flapper up to a cross piece on the cowl. Looks to be factory too.

That is the same rig mine has. I'll give a try at removing the return spring. Thanks, Andy.
