1/2 ton vs. 3/4 ton vs. 1 ton Springs

How many different types of springs are there. Is it more dependent on the engine type or are there different springs for each of these trucks?

1/2 ton 6 cyl.
1/2 ton small block
1/2 ton big block

3/4 ton small block
3/4 ton big block

1 ton big block

Also, is a "Heavy Half" just a 1/2 ton with rear 3/4 ton springs, or does it have them in front too?

the big block springs are able to hold up to the added weight. on my truck taht came with small block springs when i put the big block in it droped it down about 2 inches or so, and on our 77 3/4 with a 454 when we put a small block in it, the front of the truck was higher than stock. im not shure about weither its from a 1/2 3/4 or 1 ton but i think that the spring does change as to how much weight that it can hold. and didn't they put small block in the 1 tons? i don't know about the heavy half, but i do that in 77 if u got a 3/4 with a 454 it was a 1 ton, xpt minus the dualy. it had heavy duty 1 ton front brakes and light duty 1 ton brakes on the rear. i wish i was able to adapt thoes spindles and calipers for my truck, as well as get that dana 60...hind sight is always 20/20 i guess

1/2 ton vs. 3/4 ton vs. 1 ton springs

I checked my 85 GM parts manual, and on the half ton alone, there are 5 different spring P/N, based on which brake option and if it has the heavy duty suspension. The heavy duty spring package in the half ton shares a spring with the 3/4 ton. Let me see if I can scan this page at work and try to post it.
