a bolt in spline? What do you mean by that? Is there a tailshaft on the th400? Are you saying that there is a yoke on the end of your transmission (that a U-joint fits into)??

If thats the case, you will just have to have a one peice driveshaft made with a slip-yoke in it somewhere. Is the truck a long bed or a shortbed?

Even with it being a long bed, a one peice driveshaft (with the relatively long th400) should work fine.

I had the same problem on the Burb I'm restoring now...

What I did : I used the front piece of a in two piece driveshaft coming from a C-10 LWB & let it lengthen & balanced by a specialist , so , I have now a one piece driveshaft , with the sliding yoke being connected to the rear axle , this is by the way what you can find on K5 Blazers ( and 4WD Burbs & trucks , I presume... )

I had no opportunity to test it , but I assume it will be strong enough to stand the torque of the engine

I never noticed this before. That's pretty good. I bet the girlfriend don't like it though.
