Leaking water pump

If a water pump were to start leakin, where excatly does it leak from? The reason I ask is I have been blaming this dripping of antifreeze from the lower rad hose on the hose, but i stuck my hand up farther in behind the pulley and it's wet up there. Does anyone have a pic of where this would leak from??

If I remember correctly there is a weep hole on the bottom of the waterpump housing, if the seal around the shaft for the pump is leaking, that is where it will come out.

No picture, but the common spots to check for water pump leaks would be:

1. Gasket at engine block.
(Replace gasket/sealer)

2. Bolt holes into engine block
(Just remove bolt, not pump..... & use sealer on bolt & reinstall)

3. "Weep hole" in pump housing, located bottom side, underneath shaft.
(no fix, replacement water pump required)

Hope this helps, Good luck!

they are right your weep hole is leaking get you a mirror and look at the bottom of the pump and you will see it. It will be a very slow leak and run down the lower hose.

Tim, here's a few pics, they're kinda hard to see, but you'll get an idea of where the weep hole is.

Had an s-10, same basic water pump, it started to leak so bad that I started calling the weep hole the pee hole.
If you are into that sort of thing, you can rebuild them with a new bearing and a seal. Rear gasket comes with an engine rebuild set. If you are not then buy a new one, not a rebuilt one.
