Gas Tank - EEC Question
I have a 1969 C-10 I am in the middle of building. I picked up a 72 gas tank with the EEC fittings on it cheap to replace the rusty mess I had. My question is can I just block the EEC fittings on the 72 tank because it is going in my 69? And if so is there any special gas cap I need to use or will any 72 gas cap work? Or should I just junk the 72 tank and look for another gas tank without the EEC mess?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I had the same problem. The tank in my 70 had huge chunks of rust in it so I got a tank from a 72 at the junkyard. It was a tank with EEC, but I just put vacum caps over the EEC fittings, and I used a vented gas cap and I haven't had any problems.

Thanks Robert,
Did you have to specifically look for a vented cap or did you just use the cap from your original 70 gas tank?

The tank I got was from a 1/2 ton (my truck's a 3/4) so I guess the filler neck opening was smaller and my original cap didn't fit, so I had to buy another. I had to buy a vented cap because that's the only way air can get out of the tank since I closed off all the EEC fittings.

Cool, thanks for the help. I will go out and find a vented cap. Thanks again.
