A question or two
Ok when I got this K5 the temp guage didn't work so I got a new sending unit and added a new wire from the one I think was the right one. and went to see how hot I was getting and the darn thing just pegged it self like it was grounded some how.
The best I can think of is the guage is bad. any ideas? Next question is about the darn door on the drivers side is a ***** to close or open and it doesn't really close all the way. it look like everything lines up ok. could it be a bad door thingy. I'm about ready to stop by a body shop and ask them to look at it lol. I'm killing the door with my Shoulder and not really do that much good either. Thanks for any ideas Guys and Gals. Cethern From these pic's you can see the temp unit and which wire I hooked back up from the book it looked to be the right one.

I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT THE TEMP THING, SORRY
U SAID UR DOOR APPEARS 2 LINE UP BUT IS HARD 2 OPEN AND CLOSE WATCH UR WINDSHEILD FRAME WHEN IT OPENS, IF IT MOVES WHEN U OPEN UR DOOR IT IS STRUCTURAL, (ROCKER BOXES, CAB FLOOR, ETC.) IF YOUR WINDSHEILD FRAME DOES NOT MOVE IT IS PROBABLY IN THE HINGES ON THE DOOR OR BODY THEMSELVES, PM GEE_EMM (EXPERT )

Also, check your body mounts. The doors can be hard to close if the body mounts are shot.

For the temp gauge, make sure Your grounds are in place. There is a ground from the panel to the dash.

The temp guage works the other way. If the connection is open, then it will peg out. If it is shorted to ground it will drop to zero. So do a continuity check on the wire coming from the sender to the wiring block, then from the block to the dash harness. Do you have the wiring diagram? There is one on the FAQ section of the board. It will help you trace the wiring. That should be your only problem. If the guage itself was bad, it would never move. Let us know how it turns out, Jeff.

When I got the truck the gauge was all most where it is now it only moved after I did what I did... I'll check everything again I'm sure I have the right green wire but I could be wrong it has happend before lol.
Smokekiki.. The ground behind the dash is something I need to look at I'm sure whom ever had the truck painted had the dash out and could of messed something up. Thanks for the idea On the body mounts Bouncy I want new ones anyway. Cethern

Temp senders come in different resistance ranges. I overheated once and melted one, and had the same problem whenI replaced it. Go get another one and try it. I don't know if there are different pn's or what. Check the ohm resistance and cross that at the auto parts store. Your wiring is probable OK.

Make sure your sending unit is for a gauge, not a warning light. The warning light sending units will peg the gauges.
