Headliner with speakers and console
I was at the Carlisle truck show this year and I saw a 1970 or 1971 Chevy with a very nice headliner. It was molded plastic with built in speakers and an overhead console which could accomodate a CB or radio. The gentleman that owned the truck told me he got it from LMC. They told me today they don't carry the item anymore. Does anyone know where I can get one of these headliners or who makes it?
Thanks, JC |

I don't think it can be gotten any longer. JC Whitney used to carry them also. There was a recent thread on here where someone else was looking for one, but don't think he was successful.
Let us know if you find a source.

I bought the last 5 that were made before the company stopped making them. I have 1 left and am trying to get the rights to produce them, lots of legal crap.

Re: Headliner with speakers and console
After 2 years you wouldnt have to wait to start copying them. Patents on design are good for 2 years and utility are up to 7yrs. and since they are only able to patent a design (not the plastic itself) if its been two years...make them.

Re: Headliner with speakers and console
I saw them listed again in the latest LMC catalog. I have weird old square Pioneer speakers that dry rotted and a 4x10 hole in the door. I'll probably fab up some adapters for some 5.25s.

Yep, that looks the same as mine, only problem was I blew out 2 of those little speakers they include with the deal, don't think they are the highest quality. But the fit was good, install was easy.

I've got the same headliner in my 72. It looks great. Only thing that needs to be done are new speakers. It fit beautifully, I'd get a second one if I could.

Yep, I had the same problem when I tried to find one a while back.
My bet is either the tooling crapped out and the manufacturer didn't want to pony up the bucks to replace it or the company went out of business that was producing it and no one knows where the tooling is.

And here it is I just got word yesterday about LMC selling truck headliners from Tony's Auto Headliners and I told Tony I needed a headliner for my 69 C10 ( It ain't got a headliner right now) And I find there is such a thing as what yaw are talking about with the speakers in the headliner. I want one yesterday yaw. Maybe I can git that speaker contraption out from under the seat after all. I'm gonna save thuis thread in my favorites for future references. Count me in for sure!
