Need rearend for 4WD to 2WD conversion....

Anyone have a 71-72 GMC five-lug rear?? I just think this should be a swap-in for a leaf sprung 4WD rear. Will a 73-up rear fit?? Later, FCG

Hey FCG, you better check local inspection laws about converting a 4wd to a 2wd. A converted rig is illegal to inspect here in Texas.

A 2wd leaf spring has the spring perches in a different location than the 4 wd spring perches.

I am not worried about the inspection as when it is registered as an antique, no inspection is required. Jim, are you sure?? Are they wider or narrower?? I am confused.

Hey Mark,

If you need one with a higher gear ratio I have a good 2wd leaf spring axle off a 72 GMC. If you find out you can use it we can work something out towards what I owe you for the wheels.
