My temp. gauge is not working. It appears that the wire going to the sensor got too close to the manifold. I first plan to replace and re-route the wire, but if that doesn't work, I will probably have to replace the gauge.

Can the temp. gauge be replaced by itself, or does it require changing the entire cluster?

you can replace the guage itself w/out replacing the cluster
sswj, i think i might have one ..... i don't know if it or they work or not

Guage it selft can be replaced.

Thanks for the information. I still hope I can fix it without changing out the gauge, but we will see.

Those gauges are usually pretty forgiving. The wire on my 86 Suburban did the same thing after the engine was rebuilt (not by me). I just cut out the burned part, soldered in a new wire with heat shrink and it worked fine. There is a web site where you could buy the new shunt to go on these gauges and a lot of other gauges for other vehicles. I think it was called Fix-A-Gauge.

mine did the same thing, I just spliced another wire and re directed the route and it worked fine.
