Door Stuff and Transmission Nonsense
I'm looking for some help. I have recently purchased a 1972 Chevrolet C-10, 427 cu.in. which was restored 4-6 years ago. The door locks work (both key and manual depression) when the door is open but not when the door is closed. The linkages appear tight, the doors close well, they just won't lock.
What amount of travel should the carburator have before the transmission kickdown linkage is engaged? Also seeking input on some spray sound deadener for the doors. Any comments would be appreciated. |

no clue on the door locks, but the kickdown should occur at WOT (wide open throttle) if you have a th350 trans. as for the sound deadener, im sure someone will shoot this idea down claiming that it'll trap moisture, but i'd just use the rubberized undercoating. applied to a clean dry surface and don't block the door drain holes.

Sounds like the rubber weatherstripping around the door is holding it out just enough for it not to lock when the door is closed. Try pushing in on the door and locking it with the key. If this works, you may have to move the striker plate out just slightly. Sweet72 is correct on the carburator on the WOT. Can't help you on the sound deadener...
