Long Wood Bed Thread (revisted)

This was the thread where I said I'd post some pics, here they are. This one plank that has the paint peeling to the right, see the wood color coming through? That looks like Oak or Pine, no? I'm thinking that this wood could be stripped and refinished... somehow. This shows the condition of the bed too...quite good, no? Disregard the tire marks, they will wipe right off when I get to it.

sactoC10. Nice wood bed . Your right the camper that PO had on it protected the wood. Thanks for posting pics, now that you have the diggie camera you will go nuts.
Let us know if you decide to refinnish the wood or just KEEP ON TRUCKIN! My new wood is still in the box will be a few months before installing.

Yeah...

I have a matter to resolve...saving this wood. Since that paint is noticeably flaking off that single beam, I have the idea in my head (from seeing it peel in other places) that it may come off the remaining beams fairly easily. Not effortlessly, but just not as difficult as it could be.

Unfortunately this truck gets parked outside, so the rain does get to it.

On the other hand, it dries out quickly and the rain here in the Sac Valley is not the miserable endless downpours received in other parts of the country. Climate is dry, which has also saved the wood.

Also, the paint on the wood has helped preserve it.

If I can't get these removed in the next few months, maybe I'll have to get some aluminum sheeting or something that will breath to cover the bed one more winter season.

Refinishing the bed would be a great excuse for a nice tonneau cover!
