i have an orignality question???

hello, just curious about something, i have a 71 gmc parts truck, its nothing special, inline 6, 3-speed, etc. the truck is ochre with black trim in the interior. the strange thing is the glovebox door is black also and it looks factory. is this a gmc thing? i only ever had chevy's before this one. the seat, door panels, sun visors, dashpad are all black but the glovebox door painted a different color than the body is a new one to me,the options match the truck, anyone know if this is weird or???? Thanks, Devin

It's a GMC trademark and they also painted the dash cluster too. My 72 GMc is a white truck and it originally came with a contrasting green glove box and gage cluster paint. IT matched the green visors, belts, dash padand seat door panels.

Yup, and Chevy never did it to my knowledge. Another reason GMC's are better.

I agree with that...it's a GMC thing, although I think Chevy did it a little in 67 and maybe 68 too...but I may be confused.
What looks sharp, is to get a chrome glove box door, and paint the whole inner section...so just the chrome is on the edge, like the inst panel. Paint it the same color as the inst panel (black in my case) and it evens out the dash pretty nicely.

Didn't them GMC dash panels have some crystalized stuff in that paint too? I seem to remember having to sand all that crap off there before i could paint it and put it in my 71
