700r4 tranny and converter lockup control??
Hey All,
I am going to be running a 700r4 tranny using B&M's Converter Lockup Control (part number 70244) and I had a now Ex-Friend rebuild the tranny for me, and in doing so, he lost the instructions for installing the converter lockup control. I will be calling B&M Friday to see if they will send me new instructions, but I thought I would check with the board to see if anyone else is using this and if so, could you send me a copy of the directions?? Thanks.... |

I had a buddy that is a tranny guy set mine up so it locked up all the time when in 3rd and 4th if power was applied to a wire that he left in the connector. I wired in a new brake light switch that had an extra set of posts which opened when the brake was applied (opposite of the brake light posts) and also wired in a vacuum switch with a vacuum delay device inline between the switch and the carb so that if the gas pedal was lifted or the brakes applied, the lockup would shut off. I don't have part #s for all these parts as my buddy also supplied them. I just wired this circuit into key-on power from the fuse panel.
Those were all GM parts BTW. |

Mine is wired through a vacuum switch, hot when ignition is on. Also wired a manual switch in case I started to detonate climbing hills. Flip the switch and the converter unlocks.

I was planning to do the same as jay6891 with my 200R4. It's got the vacuum switch in it and I was going to put a switch in for the power lead to the tranny for "just in case" situations.
