body alignment specs
I'm rebuilding a 67 SWB frame off. Is there a manual that could give me measurements of body panels for the sake of alignment. For instance I've got to replace on the cab the rocker panels, cab corners, dogleg (that is the lower rear fender mount and lower door mounting), and toe kick. because some of the panels ore so far gone I have no real reference points to go by.
I'm thinking at this point what I have to do is tack replace the dogleg, align the door to the cab then hang the front sheetmetal to insure the dogleg is in the proper position align it to the doors and cab, after that remove the front clip and door again then install the rocker and cab corner and then reasemble to insure that everything fits. Am I out in left field here? Any better ideas on what approach to take? |

I suspect that the cab was assembled using fixtures. The Assembly Manual
has lots of pictures but no usefull dimensions for installing the lower pillar. I can get some dimensions off of a cab for you. I believe that we could use the cab rail for the left/right location and the firewall for the fore/aft location. For mockup purposes where clamps cannot be used we use self drilling sheet metal screws to hold the part in place, (welding up the holes when finishing). Post or PM if you would like to try this.
