headers - flowtech or Dynomax
Anyone tell me anything about these headers. Price is about the same just curious which is the better header?

I have been running a set of Dynomax JetHot coated headers for a while now (350), and I love them. They are still very nice and silver just like when I got them.
My dad also has them on his truck (454) with no problems, except on his truck the header runs so close to the starter that it heats them up and causes problems. I am running Mellow-Tone single chamber drag mufflers - and I am still plenty quiet enough to be on the street without any problems.

I'm useing flowtechs,, they seem to fit not bad, and you can still get at most things,, cept I think I'll sell it when it's time for new plugs.

If you decide to go Dynomax headers, order the Summit brand headers. They are reboxed Dynomax units. If you look close, you can make out the Dynomax part number stamped into them by the collector.
I've run the Summit Jet-Hot coated headers personally. It was a pleasant surprise when they cost 180 bucks and were Dynomax brand. The non Jet-Hot ones are like 90 bucks.

Flowtech Thicker flanges And you can get flowtech at autozone. Friend of mine claims came with a lifetime warranty Im skeptical But at leats you can get them without paying shipping.

The Summit headers are reboxed Dynomax headers.
Part number SUM-G9006 for the normal ones cost is 79.50 Part number SUM-G9006-9 for Jet Hot coated cost is 180.99 Here's a picture of the Jet-Hot coated ones on my old 72. If they look a little shabby, keep in mind he left the hood off this truck with it sitting outside in the weather for over a year one time.

Been meaning to come back and update this post. I went with Dynomax, got 'em at Discount Auto for $87 bucks and came with all the flanges to mount right up. They're just black not jet coated. I also installed new tubing and dynomax mufflers as well. Must say she sounds mighty nice! Right now I have the pipes going all the way back and turning out behind the rear wheels but may change that to turn out in front of 'em. Any pro's or cons to that?

Sandersen headers are very well made with flanges so thick you do not need to run header gaskets! Just ultra black permatex . Never leak and no anoying header gaskets that burn out .
I bought mine thru early classic enterprises well worth the money. The mid length design keeps ground clearance as if you were running manifolds. |

I have the ceramic Dynomax and like the others, I love them - they still look great after 2 years.
Orange 71 - I had the same problem with the heat from the headers frying my starter. Tell your dad to pick up the starter heat shield from Summit - I've had no problems since I installed it. Dan

Does anyone know what headers will fit on a 350 that is mounted on the I6 mounts (farther back in the engine bay) with a manual transmission? I know this is a weird request, but I have heard that the clutch linkage really gets in the way, just hoping that maybe someone here has had any luck??
