Is that your frame? I notice the holes in the rear brace for dual exhaust

No, just a picture of one I got off the Web that show's the front cross member I am needing. My 68 C10 SWB Stepside came with a rear leaf setup (optional).

My other truck (My wifes) 69 GMC SWB Fenderside came with the trailing arm/spring rear (Optional). while I am doing a complete frame off rebuild on both I am doing a swap on the chassis's as well. one of the chassis is missing the front crossmember. havent been able to locate one locally hoping someone has a wrecked frame or a spare crossmember the would like to sell me.

My understanding is you can use a crossmember from a truck all the way up to a 1987. And get the disc brakes to boot.

I posted this request in the past and Chevyguy111786 had said he had one and was going to pull it and send it to me but I think he got busy and forgot or something. I have PM'd him and he responded as if it would happen but something else might have come up. Anyhow thanks for checking for me and thanks to anyone else that can come up with what I am looking for.

Inspector 722-

Thanks for the heads up I will check, my son has a 86' SWB. I dont need the crossmember that the A-arms connect to, I need the one in front of that that is rivited to the frame (Very Front) usually sits just under the fan or radiator?

If I understand your post correctly you are wanting the cross member that ties the two frame sections together. It has a slight "V" shape to it? If correct, I am cutting up a '71 2wd frame. Has factory rivets holding it to the frame sections. Let me know if this is what you are looking for.

IronHorse:

Yes this is exactley what I am looking for (Picture at the start of the Post)

For some reason the one chassis is missing this and need to replace it. I am not sure it is used for anything other than overall structural integrity.

you can email me at: dfranz.ppl@yucca.net with any particulars etc.

You can grind down the rivets, and punch them out or?

I am replacing mine with a brace from a later truck. The reason is that it has additional pieces that allow for the use of a sway bar. Something to think about.
My truck is a 4x4, 72 model also. No sway bars until 73 and up.

Thanks To All!

Dean, Highboy and Nu2-72 Thanks for the information and offers, I will keep you in mind. IronHorse assures me he has one pulled and ready to go, so will finish the deal with.

Again thanks to all who came to the rescue. This is what makes this board so great, all those who are willing to help each other out in the interest of these great ol' trucks!!
