A few Pics of what I've been doing...
My out of control resto just keeps going. Everything that was black is now or soon to be hammered Silver, everything else is Torch Red. Pic of my restored booster and new MC. Also "A" arm clean up and control arm bushing install. It used to look like the still dirty passenger side....yes that side is next!

Aren't you the guy that was just going to lower his truck and then went nuts while you had it apart?
I may be thinking of someone else though. I get confused.

I don't think so....I'm the guy that bought this lil' 2wd SWB to drive as a daily driver while I did a "frame off" on my SWB K-10 and the 2wd has gotten all the attention...and I can't stop until it's all new, lol!!!!

Is Torch Red a GM color????? Ask the Corvette guys that question....nah....of course it's a GM color. It's the current color red ( I think 2001 and up) if you want a bright red Corvette....ah....it would be Torch Red!
I'm not sure what the code is...my painter told me he ordered PPG 2004 GM Corvette Torch Red.

Looks great, rather envious, being that mine looks like the "other" side. What are you using to clean everything prior to painting?

The Hammer silver that you see here is out of the can!!! This is Rustoluem Hammered Silver that I found at Home Depot for about 5 bucks and change a can. It will be fine for dry weather driving that I will be doing in this truck....big improvement over the still not done passenger side, eh???

I did this all backwards. When the truck was being painted I should have taken the cab off the frame and done it right and sandblasted the frame and powder coated it...I will do my SWB K-10 the right way...I promise. Because I thought this lil' red 71' SWB was going to be my daily driver while I did a frame off on my 72' SWB K-10, I didn't do a cab off frame when it was painted. Well the painter took everything apart and did such a fantastic job ($7000.00 paint job)....my stupid anal self couldn't stop from cleaning up the rest of the truck. So the front suspension parts that can come off are being blasted prior to paint. The frame is being "oven cleanered", scraped and sanded...it is time consuming but worth it I think. I am just rattle canning everything with Rustoleum Hammered Sliver from Home Depot. This truck will never see the rain and will be my Summer truck so the rattle can should be just fine. I have a 72' 4x4 K-10 that I will drive in the Winter. It will be going through a complete frame off when I finish this lil' red 71'. Thanks for all your kind words Guys!

I've done my ralley wheels in hammered silver, innerfenders, rad support, frame and everything else in hammered black. Scratched a few spots when puttin' in the motor and tranny sprayed a couple of coats back on and looked like new!! Love this stuff and cheaper than powdercoat.

Thanks again guys! I got both the upper and lower control arms centered and installed in the respective "A" arms and I will be re-assembling newly painted drivers side tomorrow. ECE 2.5" drop spindals..yes painted hammered silver along with the Ground Force 2" drop springs will get this thing sitting pretty. Should be a fun day tomorrow! Then next onto the passenger side....should be much easier as I just did it on the drivers side.

Here's the lower and upper with control arms installed just before they go back on my truck...those are Ground Force 2" drop coils for the front. They are from Summit and came powdercoated in blue...I'm ok with the color. Yup...new TRW ball joints for top and bottom!!!...and a new bumper of course.

Yep, I think that OVEN CLEANER simply ROCKS. Use it all the time. Told my wife after she asked, "you need ANOTHER can?" Sweetie, "Put a can or two on your list EVERY time you go to the store, for probably a year." I also get that HAMMERED paint at Home Depot, used the charcoal black on the inside of my front wheel tubs.
Thanks for the encouraging pics!

Rattle can. Stuff really sticks if the area is clean as I have continued cleaning with oven cleaner and got it on a painted area and just wash/wipe it off...paint is fine. I am in no way trying to say this is better than powdercoating but not a bad option for a dry weather summer truck as mine will be.
