Lifted or Slammed or Stock?

well just got done looking in @ some pics in the pic section and I noticed something. They are all slammed. I understand why cars are slammed, But trucks are made for moving things and not going sideways wheel by wheel over a speed bump in a parking lot. And does anyone ever lift there trucks anymore? I am sure I am going to get major ripped on for this post but I am curious why people do it? I understand the motive behind restoring a car/truck to show quality but what good is it if you hit a bump on the ground and bottom out?

Which do you prefere?

I bought my 67 already lowered but i would have done the same thing had it not already been done.

The simple answer to your questions is ..... it looks good.

I'd like to tell you that it performs better or improves gas milage or something like that but the simple truth is that lowered trucks just look good.

I use mine as a daily driver and dont "bottom out" on speed bumps or anything like that. It is still a truck and does a good job hauling things and even pulling a trailer.

I have always been into speed and performance but needed the convienance of a truck and i get the best of both worlds with my truck lowered.

Also, low profile performance tires would look pretty silly on a truck that wasnt dropped.

You left out "lowered". A good 2.5/3 or 3/4 drop doesn't sacrifice load rating much, and the lower center of gravity makes the vehicle a lot more fun to drive- besides the fact that it looks cooler. Mine is dropped 2.5/3 and I don't tiptoe over speed bumps, and I still haul whatever I feel like hauling. Lowering a 4X4 would be pointless to me, but I don't see the problem with dropping a 2wd.

I think you should have included a "lowered" category as this is different than "slammed". Had you done so, this category as it pertains to 2wd trucks would be the most popular.

Here are my thoughts/opinion:

1. Lifted. Works for 4x4's only, and only if not overdone. No monster truck wannabees please!
2. Lowered. Best compromise between looks and hauling capacity if you don't want a stock stance and feel "slammed" is too radical. You can pull this of without changing to much else along the way.
3. Slammed. It's a fad. Given time we'll look back on this like we do big hair, leisure suits, Brady Bunch perms, and hair Bands and go WTF? 50 years from now, they'll be going "old School" and slamming their trucks.
4. Stock. Everybody loves a stock truck, even if it's for a blank canvas upon which to personalize We don't have such a large enthusiastic community because every hates how these trucks look

Agan, only my opinions...as for me, I like them stock, but they're all good.

Well . . ... mine is more than just lowered so I guess I would fall into the very low/almost slammed category. However, my truck doesn't require creeping 1 tire @ a time to cross a speed bump. I do slow down for RR tracks but I do that in stock height vehicle as well. I also use my truck for work (towing my car trailer, hauling yard stuff, moving engines or bulky parts).

Redo the poll and add lowered as the greasemonkey says monkey do,lol

okay so I dont play follow the leader very well the major drop on my truck was photoshopped,by "Longhair" and it looks bad a$$ but in reality it"s not feasable for my needs hence keeping w/Lowered.

As usual, CPNE is correct-o-mundo. I lowered mine 3" and 5" using springs and shocks that still give me a half ton rating. Combined with the rhino liner, I can still call mine a truck. Do I haul anything? Only if it's in cardboard boxes - are you crazy???

Not slammed but moderately lowered. 2.5/3 fits me perfectly.

The yellow blazer is a beautiful, lifted 4x4 specimen. Very properly done. 10 stars!

I'm a stock person myself, mostly because I use mine (when they are together) as trucks and has a rod. But I also agree with CPNE's comments. Mostly, I like them all, but doesn't mean I want one that way.

I've never been a real fan of the slammed look. To each his/her own IMO.

What really looks dumb to me is when you see these budget lowered/slammed cars/trucks running around town. I'm talking about the ones you see bouncing over every ripple in the road and/or the geometry is way off on the wheels. You can tell it'd be a POS to drive.

I've always been one to think if you are going to do something, spend the money and do it right.

Hell I like em all. Lifted trucks are cool and I don't even mind if it's done to a 2wd. A nice slightly lowered "sport truck" stance looks good all day long, and is easy to live with. Personally I want mine on the deck. I do not like it "laying rocker" because it ain't a hot rod if it don't have a rake.

Lowered trucks a trendy fad? I have been around lowered trucks for 30 years. I don't see it as being a trend....

Really good question/thread.
I guess I like 'em all. I have one of each.
My first was a lifted blazer, not extensive but still lifted w/bigger tires.
My second is a stock height 4x4 swb truck and staying that way.
My third is a 2wd/swb/fleet that has a 4/6 drop
Also just picked up a 3/4 ton 4x4 burb and yes, it will stay stock as well.
It's all personnel preference, they all have their pro's/cons and reasons for doing it.
Do it your way, that's the point.

I like 'em all, but slammed is not for me, though I can appreciate one done right. In fact, I have a stock height '70, a lifted '71 4x4, and want to build a lowered, (but not slammed) '68. Also, In my opinion, '67-'68 chevys make the best looking lowered trucks, and '71-'72 chevys make the best looking 4x4s.

I like em' anything but stock, as long as its either sky-high or scrapping off road-reflectors

I've considered both with my 72' but for now its sitting on bags...but I've come VERY close to swapping it to a 4x4...

In a perfect world I think I'd just have one of everything!

if its a 4wd then let it not be able to park in covered garages cause its too high and if its 2wd then let it scrap asphalt
