van tilt Question

i have a van tilt i am going to put in a 67 my Question is can i move the whole tilt closer to the dash to give me more arm,belly, room

To a degree...yes you can. I did that in the Longhorn. I feel the wheel is too close in stock configuration myself.
Don't forget on the van tilt, you'll need the intermediate shaft off a late '68 - '72 truck.

I just posted earlier about installing 2 tilts today
if you look at the pics they are both installed about 11/2 to 1 3/4" closer to dash than factory.keep in mind that if you do that with a van tilt you may want to adjust where you mount the neutral saftey switch. Maybe 6" up instead of factory distance.

yes i looked at them and they look really good in there too !!!!!!! my neutral switch is on the tranny i put it there when i put a turbo 350 in it about a year ago !! is there any thing else i need to do ?

Just get the column in there and then push in to collapse the intermediate shaft to the position you want it.
I pulled the intermediate shaft completely out to remove old column so when I collapsed the shaft I greased it a little and made sure it slide back and forth so once the column is back in and the rag joint is bolted back together you can push and pull till you get it just right.

my 67 already has the correct intermediate shaft on it i put it there when i put the power steering on it about 20 years ago thanks for the tip though i had to go look at it to make sure i put it in there just to make sure!!!!! how much more room will i have ? and what all will i have to do to move it closer ?
