what'd you guys use??
what do you guys use to plug the A.I.R. tube holes in your mainifolds??? im actually in the process of a cam swap in a 305 powered caprice, ( i know not a truck but hey, its still a small block ) the guy a t napa told me they dont make a plug for it, but im not sure if he was sayin this cuz it is true, or because there were other customeors in the store and doin anything with smog controls could be reported.. who knows... any suggestions??? can i retap the holes for a pipe plug??? pinch the air tubes off and tack weld them shut and reinstall??? thanks in advance...

on my straight 6 i took the factory ends that thread in and cut the tube out and welded them up and screwed them back in

On the 454 that I build for my dually, it seems like I used either 1/4" or 3/8" pipe plugs. Whichever size it was, they fit perfectly. You might pull a rail and compare it to pipe thread.

GEt some 1/4 NPT Allen Plugs It will look better than plain galvinized plugs But if your lookin cheapest way out Plain black pipe or galvinized plugs.

well the NAPA guy said a regular pipe plug wont work... i thought pipe thread was all the same... so a allen 1/4 NPT plug will work then??? cuz i can stop at he parts place on my way home tonight...

The guy at NAPA is wrong.
Buy 8 plugs, 1/4 N.P.T. and screw them in. I have done it many times.

Some are differnent though But i doubt yours is Im certain its the same manifold as a camaro of same era and ive plugged them off..
My 85 was an odd size that was fine thread metric and i couldnt get a plug for that .. But it's Got Factory Steel Manifold Headers |

I've used pipe plugs on olds 307's for the same reason. HOlds up fine, but don't use any kind of pipe sealer goo or silicone unless you want to hear some whistling, I used the high temp silicone stuff, still melted and made a godawful whistling on a client's car.

I put motor oil on mine and run them down with an impact No Leaks.
