What did you get done-Thanksgiving edition.
I may not get in till late this evening so I'm going to start this thread early. I spent Thanksgiving at my Mom-n-laws house and had a great time. All my wifes family was there and we had lots of food and lots of laughs. It couldn't have been a better family day.
Other than washing all my trucks I didn't do a darn thing truck related. I spent the weekend Christmas shopping, buying Christmas lights, and putting up our Christmas tree. What did you get done?

I went to my Aunts for T-day, went shopping with my Cousin on Friday. Saturday I did some more shopping then came home and put up our Christmas tree. Great weekend all in all, but nothing truck related was accomplished.

Nothing on the Blazer here. I had to work Friday, which seemed ike a wasted day, workwise. The phones were dead. I did go target shooting with a buddy yesterday. That is addicting. We had a blast!
I have scored a 60/40 bench for the Blazer, though. It's out of a 2000 GMC crew cab, so I can get rid of the back seat totally. I don't like the way it sticks up over the bedrail. I saw a 71 Blazer at goodguys a couple months ago with a hard tonneau and buckets, and that looked like the way to go. Trying to clear out my garage so I can bring my Blazer back home. I have decided to keep it, but it is at a friends house right now. I really miss it, and can't wait to get back to work on it. I have a pile of parts at work that seems to keep growing, and they need to get put on. I have also decided on black for the Blazer. I think that with tan leather will look pretty nice. Now I just need to get it done!

This didn't really happen over the weekend, but here goes anyhow.
I won an auction on Ebay, so I went to pick the stuff up. I live near Seattle and the items were in West Virginia. Last Friday I flew to Baltimore then stayed with a buddy in Annapolis. I drove his truck up to Hancock Maryland to get the truck I would drive back, a 94 Chev C1500 LWB. It has 187k miles on the original 305. I went and picked up the steam cleaners, stayed another night and ended up leaving last Sunday afternoon around 4 pm. That night I stayed in Fremont, Indiana. Monday night I stayed in Plankinton, South Dakota. Tuesday night I stayed in Missoula, Montana and rolled into Portland, Oregon on Wednesday afternoon. We had 20 at my parents house for Thanksgiving so it was a good time. That was a lot of driving and the truck was terrible in snow (275 60 15 tires...), luckily I only saw a few hundred miles worth in Wyoming and Montana/Idaho. My purchase was 3 Jenny Steam cleaners. I got them for $50 on Ebay and they are worth around $1000 each working. They cost around $2500 each new. I will have to put some work and parts into them but it was still worth it and one of my uncles got a truck out to Portland to boot.

Cleaned the floor, ripped out the old buckets and installed a gray NPI carpet and the stock bench.

The carpet looks great, Izzy. I didn't know if you still had the 83' or what. What's the plan for it now?

I did all the wiring in the tail section of my truck, soidered, wiried, loomed, routed... ran loom from the fuse box to the tail lights... it was a great weekend! check the webpage for an update, that's uploading right now!!! |

I wasted a bunch of gas as usual. Shoulda washed my truck, but I'm a lazy SOB. I guess after the shocks and all that stuff back around my birthday I earned a couple weekends of slacking.

Thursday the family all went to a buffet for dinner and filled up! Plus no dishes to wash or mess to clean up that way. Friday I nabbed a 205 tcase for $100. It's for a 4 spd, but I'm planning on converting it and it will be in my '77 eventually. Saturday I put some chrome tow hooks on my nephew's '72 Chevy 1/2 ton for him, and went out Sat night with some friends who were home for the holiday. Sunday I pulled all the hydroboost stuff out of my parts truck for a bud, and while I was at it got the seat and tilt column out of it too. The seat's gonna be my "garage couch".

Did Turkey day with my mother in-law. Wife's brother came down from Huntsville. Good eating for sure. Friday morning I spent replacing my mailbox and post since someone took a ball bat to it Wednesday. Let them try now. The may get the box, but the post will demand alot more to take it out.
Also since it was cool for here (40's overnight, hig 60's for the day), I got into the attic and reran my house telephone lines and connected the phone line extension up to the new shop. So now I have a ding-a-ling (besides the owner) in the shop. I saw the 82 come in ands out most the of the weekend, but that was it. Picked up an AirAid system for my 96, but unfortunately term papers kept me busy Saturday and today. Guess next weekend will be a truck weekend.
