Finally making some progress on the cab. The new NOS rockers and repro front cab supports are install. Drip rail shaved and replaced with 1/4 inch round bar. Gas filler neck closed up. The cab is now being blasted and primed.

Here are a couple more pics. Once the cab in on the frame and the door rehung, the shaven drip rail will be completed.

What are you blasting with? It looks like sand? That gives a great surface for primer to stick to and takes off all the old rust & filler.

I am not sure what the blast shop is using, it kind of a pink color. I know it is not sand.

Looks GREAT!!! I wish mine were that far along. Good Work!
The blasting media might be Aluminum Oxide. I use it on my project and it works great. It is a darker 'maroon-ish/red' color out of the container...but once it gets blasted for one or two rounds it takes on a pinkish color as it breaks down. It costs quite a bit more than sand...but it gets the job done nice and quick...and I can usually get 3 to 4 cycles out of it before it becomes too fine to work well. Keep up the fantastic work! ![]() |
