Chop Top Questions
I have an opportunity to pickup a 78 cab that has been chopped 4" and has shaved doors. Wondering how practical this would be for a daily driver.
A few issues I can see: The glass and gaskets will have to be cut. Aside from the cost and risk of cutting safety glass, how well could I expect the the front and rear windows to seal. The seat will have to be lowered to recover head room, I am 6' 2" so head room is an issue. I assume the column drop will also have to be changed. These trucks stock seem to have a fairly uncomfortable seat and wheel height. Could I expect that to get worse? How practical are shaved doors in a midwestern winter where ice and snow happen? I see images of the doors frozen shut and a dead battery. My truck is a lowered short stepper, so its obvious I am willing to compromise on using it as a truck, but I am wondering if the chop top is going beyond daily road wars and trips to the home improvement store? Can anyone share their experience? |
