New Rear Drum Shoes, How Thick Should They Be

Heavy Duty JB5 brakes

I got some new shoes from the parts store and there is only about a quarter-inch of material on the them...is that how they should be?

Yup, that's right. I went to replace my rear brakes, cuz I thought they looked a little thin...no thinner than NEW shoes! Interesting, you'd think they'd put more meat on them, huh?

Yup, that's about right. If I remember correctly, they wear down to 1/16" or so before it's time to replace them...
