Sway bar and air dam????
I bought a sway bar from Buffalo Elk for my 77 Cheyenne. He delivered it to Stoked Out Specialties for me today. They held it up to my truck, and it looks like the air dam will have to be removed for the sway bar to fit.
Does any one have a front sway bar and the plastic air dam on their truck? I need some pics to see how this works....

mine had both the bar and the air dam when i bought it. i can't see why they would interfere. the airdam bolts to the bumper and the swaybar to the frame horns and lca's.

i just looked at the pics of your truck and i have never seen an air damn like that. mabey its only on 73-80's, the 81-87 ones bolt to the bottum of the bumper

Look carefully and you can see the sway bar mounted on my truck. I don't see how it would not fit. |

Ok, it looks like I need to be more specific about my request. Since it's a 77 the air dam is mounted behind the bumper. I need pics from someone with a 73-80 truck....

I have a swaybar+the hideous 73-80 airdam. Short of the swapped engine the truck has an amazing amount of factory issue parts (and all of them need to be replaced ).

Pre-'81 air dam
Here's a pic of one, off the truck. I believe they are still available from GM. Also I think there use to be a 2wd,... AND a (taller) 4wd version.

Anyone have pics of how the sway bar mounts? I got one on the way too and was wondering if I'm gonna have to drill the holes or should they be there? Its going on a '78 heavy half, I think he said the bar is from an 81 its a 1 1/16".

I think they were $3.99 a pair at Auto Zone for poly bushings, so there is little expense involved. Oh, and adding the swaybar will make an amazing difference in how the truck handles. Slonaker |

Check out that tasty salt!! And yes, I know the bushing fell off the bar, my truck squeaks like crazy becuase of that, just been too lazy to put the bushing back on... The dam is gonna come off pretty quick, It is broken, and the tire rubs it when I turn sharply to the right.

Ok, now I have a new question for an old thread. Does anyone know the answer to this-
I just read the thread that Tx Firefighter posted in the FAQ forum about Early Classics Front Sway Bar Frame Mount Brackets for lowered trucks. I went to Early Classics website and discovered they only make these to fit 63-66 and 67-72 trucks. I know you can put a 73-87 crossmember under a 67-72 frame so I "assume" the sway bar mounts are the same too. Can anyone verify this to be true? Has anyone used a 73-87 sway bar set up on their 67-72 frame? |

N2TRUX,... I had the ECE mounts on my old '82 2wd Blazer. I had ordered them for my '71 swb project,... but decided to use them when I lowered the blazer front end. Sorry, but I don't have any pics.

lolife99 that's what I needed to know. I "assumed" they would work just fine, but I wanted to be sure before I ordered a set. Thanks for the info....

I had to scan some crappy old photos. This is all I have. The pics make it look better than it actually was. It needed rockers, quarters, and more power under the hood. Still made a nice beater. Sold it for $3400.00. Kinda wish I had it back!
