Finally got a dana 60 4x4 dually front

Finally I found one I could afford.

Oh happy day

Now to get that 500 plus pound beast off the truck through the snow banks and into storage for a bit.

Seriously honey..it's just weight to keep traction on the road.

I always wanted a dually 4x4...now I got a good start too one. Been looking a long time.. I come across some once in a while ..but man-o-man are they pricey, to what I'd pay...but others pay the going rate all the time.

Mudder67, ...How many green people you come across when they saw your truck.

Hey Rod. Don't know if you remember but I bought the locker off of you a while back. I still haven't installed it but anyway. I am curious about your conversion. I know how these projects go but if you ever get around to it I will be interested in how it goes. I have considered doing the same to the 67. I have been told it would be better to just splice the front end of a 4x4. I think if I were to do it I would go the drilling route though. Are you worried about getting the spring mounts accurately placed? That seems like that would be the hardest part to me. Are you just going to take measurements off of one of your other 4x4s and then transfer them to the 4x2 frame?

Spring mounts won't be too bad as the core support is intergal to the front spring mount on the 4wds. So if rod stays w/ 69-72 front springs he'll be good to go, the 1 ton and 4wd frames are almost identical in spacing.
Rod take lots of pictures!

There is not much for gospel on how to do the conversion.

I looked at the spring hangers on the 88 dually I stripped this from...and the front hangers didn't look like they would work as Jim70GMC had written me before. They dont have the ability to support our years rad support.
The rears were kinda buried under the 88's cab . I'm not sure if the 88's rear supports would work. I figure I'll be asking for a set of front 69-72 springs and hangers here on the board fairly soon. I think I should use the optional 3 leaf front springs.

The 88 springs are longer than out 72 type...so was told on board that the emergency cable output dimpled area would be blocked or need to be hammered flat to mount a rear support there.

I got a good price and the seller did phoned around and knew what they were worth....I got this 10 miles from home and he let me use his heated shop to pull it out...it was -46 degrees here yesterday with the windchill.

I wont be doing the conversion that soon...but I'll be taking pics.

I did grab these 88 front 3 leaf springs as I made a deal that way...even though I knew I wouldn't be using them. I didn't grab the hangers though. I'll trade em or sell em for something hopefully.

I think I could mount this 88's front sway bar, but not sure on a 4x4...my 71 sub 4x4 has one but they added homemade bracket to mount the front bushing mounts. Its (71') a little different type though.

This is a dually hubbed dana 60...would like to explore how to convert it to regular wheel type...perhaps by changing the front disc possibly.

You may not want to use the springs(could always add a leaf or two),but the hangers could come from any model 69-72 4wd.Even a Blazer.

Rod you'll need new hubs or get the dually hubs machined to convert to a single wheel type front, If I remember correctly from CK5 it would be around $300 plus to do.
Since it's warmer here and the 72 dually is still in my backyard i'll take some measurements on my 3/4 tons and see where the rear mounts for the front springs will go. I'll take lots of pics.

Nice find! I'm looking for the same thing, but from a Dodge... I have a D60 single wheel axle sitting under my dually ('92 Dodge). It not only looks funny, but I have to carry two spare wheels!
