Blazer CHALET info needed ASAP!!
I found a 76 or 77 Blazer Cheyenne CHALET today at a local junkyard. Seems to be fairly complete. Has some sort of buckets in it, brown vinyl with a medalion in the center(original?), no console. Has tilt, cruise, a/c, clock, no tach. 1/4's are rotted above wheelwell, one window is broken in side of camper. Not sure how much they want for it but what would be a good price.... Anything I should be looking for to be there that is unique to these trucks that I would have a hard time replacing? I have heard that they are rare and I would want to semi restore it with a few modern convienences...
Any help would be great... Thanks! Joe __________________

For some pics and info go to http://www.blazerchalet.com/photos.html. They were some unique trucks. Rarely seen.

The side window will be an issue but not impossable...you just actually did me a favor and reminded me to fire up my chalet who is currently hibernating for the winter and get it over to my buddies glass shop so we can remove my side windows and tear them down and find replacement seals for the tracks. It seems finding a glass shop that will even consider touching these windows is the hard part. At least when i lived in az and was still single and would have dropped $500 or more to fix them no one wanted my coin.
If the body is rotted that bad...i would sink thousands of dollars into the replacement sheetmetal and labor to do the work. Chalet campers will fit on any 76 to 91 K5. A friend from our web site drops me a line every 6 months or so and he lives in CT and does a lot of surf fishing with his unit...anyways his 76 had seen better days...so he pulled the camper....did all the glass work and painted it to match his 88 K5 and gave her a new home on a 88 K5....last year he installed a new gm crate motor and trans and reports 16mpg with his chalet on board...not bad at all. If you decide to snag it please send yus some photos and the serial number on the left rear of the body...directly to the left of the rear door...07BCAxxxx. Oh ya...$500 or less assuming it doesn't run and has a big bad cancer issue.... Haven't seen any yet with the factory tach...and even fewer with the clock. The medallion in the seats are ciraca 76-77...allthought the medallions between the years are different... If you have any questions just drop me a line...glad to help. DW
