That looks like pretty shoddy work to me. I think you had better let them practice on my truck for awhile before they finish yours...PLEASE! Send directions on where to drop off my truck...LOL! Looks sweet!

Yeah that's just the base. They were about to wet sand it when I left.

They also forgot to patch that square hole in the driver's door. I'm going to put 6x9's in the doors so the passenger side door is fine.

Yes, just make sure that they get out all of the streaks in the basecoat. It will look very mottled when it gets out in the sun. Spraying silver is very tricky in that there is very little pigment in the paint. Mostly metallics. Hopefully the teacher will give them helpful hints to eliminate that problem. Over reducing and cross hatching usually helps but you have to be careful not to have overspray from the basecoat all over the truck having dry spots all over. Very tricky color.

Thanks Yukon Jack
The teacher is a friend of mine and he'll make sure they do it right. That's why they've had it since July!!!!!! He keeps finding things that they should be doing better. I know one thing-There is not a pin hole of rust on that thing.

Looking good. My truck is being painted silver right now too and it is a tricky color. Looks like they are doing good work.

Looks good so far.
So is this a project for them, and what's the deal on your end (if you don't mind my asking). I know they use to do them for free at on of the local schools as training and grades. But that's pretty much gone.

The head Collision and Repair Professor lives in my town. I asked some people around town about some bodywork and they recommended me to him. The deal is I can't be in a hurry(JULY!). For someone with absolutely NO PATIENCE that's hard. I just have to pay for materials.

That's the best kind of job in the bodyshop business. Just make sure they are not wasing materials too, but I guess if the body and paint is pro-bono than you can't complain.

Yeah I can't be complaining too much. I guess I forgot to say the best part of it with everybody teasing me about getting their trucks in there. In August they went to a new policy of nothing older than 9 years. So I got grandfathered in. Talk about lucky.

You say (July) like it's a bad thing! I wish mine went that quick(almost two years on my blazer) but I can't seem to focus on one project at a time.
That silver with ghost flames will look awesome! Nice Job. |

I don't think they should limit the age....look at it as a challange.
