??? Cheyenne Base Engine/Trans Package
Hi,
Was the base Cheyenne eng/trans package 307/three on the tree??? My glove box does not have the 350 eng package. How else can I tell? 350 motor is in it now.

Your model # will tell you if it is a V-8. I'm not sure, but I think you could get the Cheyenne on an inline truck...never seen it, but the book don't say anything against it.

cheyenne has nothing to do with drivetrain, you can get Z84 regardles of engine in the truck..... 30-7 was base engine in the E model trucks, which is what yours is if the VIN begins with CE
if it was a CS truck then it woul have the 250 which is also the base engine, hard for some ppl to understand though, but there were two different base engines all these years and two different base trucks 3 speed was always base tranny excpt in C30 trucks, all others were 3 speed unless were ordered or built in variation ------------------ Randy- Lincoln, IL r68c30@hotmail.com 71 C-10, trying to assemble....sigh.. parting out 5.0LTPI '81 cutlass supreme brougham *Paint is overrated © RSS Enterprises 2000 [This message has been edited by Fast68Chevy (edited April 09, 2002).] |

Thank you both.
Follow-up question : If it was a 307/3spd, now a 350/4spd - how does this affect the value? I am trying to restore to as nearest stock as possible - but don't want to give up the 350 (and would like to add an automatic).

It'll only be worth what one will pay, and IMO, it is worth more with the 350. But I ain't buying it either.

Unless it's a high-end collector buying these trucks don't gain or loose value because of drivetrain swaps (done correctly). A high end collector would be looking for a #'s matching factory original. Since your engine/tranny is long gone, it'll never be #'s matching, so build it to suit you. With a 3 speed the standard rear would be 3:73 so you might consider an overdrive tranny or go with a 3:08.
As the others said, Trim options had nothing to do with drivetrain or body style. Tick the right boxes and you could have a long-step 250 six 3 speed manual Cheyenne Super with heater and radio deletes. ------------------ Jeff Jesseman Cheyenne Parts Northeast Franconia, NH 67 Chevy SWB Fleetside 70 GMC Burb 1/2 ton 2wd 72 Chevy Burb 3/4 ton 4x4 Parts bought and sold

Yes. I am slowly coming to that same conclusion. I will keep it looking original.
Add factory look/feel options - tilt, 350/350.
