coming home pics

I picked this truck up a couple weeks ago. The person that went with me to help just got these pix to me, so I thought I'd put them on the board for S&G's. The straps all over the place are due to the cab & bed were not attached to the frame, just sitting on it. It was maybe 20 deg F that day, so I didn't want to climb under the truck anymore than req'd.

The tow bar work great. I think instead of working on this truck right away, I've got a lead on some 3500# axles...thinking its time to build a dove tail trailer.

The snow made no difference in the tow, except everytime I had to start moving again... Should have locked the front end in

Where did you get your tow bars? What brand?

And that 67 looks pretty bad ass too.
Gray, I've had a couple...wall mart used to sell a reece one for 100 bucks. It was a cheapie one that was a fixed A frame, no hinge or anything. It worked great. I did a few long distance trips with it (like a 1200 mile trip, a 450 mile trip and a 300 miler too) plus countless local drags too.
Then i sold it with my old 69 GMC, and it was draged to tenn. with it behind a moving van.
I then got one for 75 bucks on e-bay that was foldable, you could extend the legs, all kinds of kick @ss features...it broke within a 1/2 block of the house. Total bummer.

The reason for the hat & open window, my back window is tinted so dark (PO), that I can't see out of it very well, so I left the window open to keep tabs on the truck...

As for the tow bar, i'm not home right now, i can get you the brand if you want... However, the arms swing in and out, and I would recommend making sure yours does if you are buying one. I bought my used from a guy at work that was getting rid of it...

The universal ones are not as universal as they'd want you to believe.
Onless you want to weld/fab brackets, then plastic bumpered cars are a no go.
If you are willing to drill holes in the steel bumper, then the fixed A arm one will fit anything...the hinged ones are way sweeter, you can open it up wide for a wide framed car, or close it to a smaller V shape for narrow chassis.
I like removing the bumper, and bolting the tow bar knuckles directly to the frame where the bumper bolts to.

Here's the one I got on e-bay...don't buy it, the mounts that you bolt to the bumper are junk.
If you have the means to make your own mounts, then the rest of the tow bar looks fine.

And here is the wall mart special. I miss it...I sold this to CHEVYE with the truck pictured a few months ago.
Come to think of it, i miss the truck too.
But you can see how it mounts onto the truck and everything. The bolts I have it bolted onto go directly to the frame.
