Tire size conversion chart
I posted this in another thread, but thought I'd put it in a new post in case everyone didn't see it:
"Here is a sample of a tire chart size conversion chart I made up. I got the idea from a fellow board member, Tom who made a similar chart. It basicaly converts the metric (mm) units to inches. It gives the sidewall height and overall diameter. You just type in your wheel diameter and it lists all the dimensions of different tire combinations (some probably don't even exist). It came in pretty handy when I was choosing my tires sizes. If you are interested, let me know, and I'll e-mail it to you. Oh, it's an Excel spreadsheet by the way." ------------------ Current project: The "HACKstoration" 1967 GMC shortbed/fleetside, 350/700R4, air bag suspension, 18" billet wheels. OR...
P-size X series X 2 (# of sidewalls)= ? then... ? divided by 25.4 = ? --> + rim diameter= Example P235/75R15 235 X .75 X 2 = 352.5 352.5 divided by 25.4 = 13.87 13.87 + 15" rim = 28.87 inches tall ----------------------------------------- the P size is millemeter of rubber width rim bead to rim bead going up sidewall accross tread and down sidewall... the Series is the Percentage of sidewall. so a 75 series is taller than a 50 series the first ? is in metric form you then convert to SAE by dividing by 25.4 for 25.4 mm in 1 inch. from there you have total rubber height... because you already multipied X 2... just add your rim diameter... Hope that helps.....in case you lose the chart...
