Question 72bb mounts

I know this has been beat to death,BUtttttt,, I must have missed something. I have a 402 big block, a set of original 72 big block towers.Went to the part store to get a set of motor mounts for the 402. Bingo, not even close, back and was told that was all the puter showed!! Two other stores to make sure, same mount at all three.! Any ideas ,again i may just need a brain reset!

The tower for 72 is unique to itself. But the mount that bolts to it is the same as the mount for 73 and up.
Since it was a one year only deal the parts stores are morons about it.
Just tell them you need the mount for 73.

Motor Mounts

Make sure you tell them a 73 454 because the small block mounts bolt in using different locations than the BB mounts. The BB use the top 2 and the lower is in the corner. The small block use the top 2 and the lower is in the center. the 72 BB frame stands only have lower hole for the corner not the center if I recall.

Corection

Sinister - Hope you get this before you go. The BB use the center hole on the bottom and not the corner. My bad.

Any of the 73 + clamshell MM should work. They are mount inserts that go inside your 72 clamshell. You drill out the rivets and use bolts to put it back together. Energy Suspension has an excellent eurthane replacements...look at their matching trans mount, too.
